Danny Davis knew that he had to pull out his best run of the evening in the Men’s Snowboard Superpipe final to win the event. He would do exactly that in the last run of the event.

Davis would win his second straight Superpipe final following his 93.66 run. The 93.66 score was the best of the entire event.

“It’s very unexpected,” Davis added following his run on ESPN. “I haven’t run a lot of pipe this year.”

With Davis winning the gold, Taku Hiraoka finished with the silver medal. In his final run, he had a 92.33 score following an 84.33 in his first run and a 14.33 in his second run.

Iouri Podladtchikov picked up the bronze medal in the event. His best run was a 89.00 in his first run, then struggled with a 67.66 and a 40.00 in his second two runs.

There is a surprising name missing in the top 3. That’s Shaun White, who had two bad runs in the three qualifying efforts.

Following a 54.00 score in his first run, he scored his best run at 82.00, then had a 62.66 in his third and final run. His effort gave him a fourth place finish.

This is the first time since the 2007 Winter X Games that White missed out on a medal.
