It will be an all Don Schumacher Racing Funny Car final at Auto Club Raceway at Pomona. However, their leader is at home in Chicago and missed his first race in a long time.

Ron Capps defeated Robert Hight in the first semifinal race. Capps went 4.134 to Hight’s 7.854.

Hight smoked the tires early on and never recovered. Also, it snapped a five race win streak at Pomona for John Force Racing to begin the season.

In addition, it was the first race between Capps and Hight since Chicago last year. Capps won that race, too.

Capps will face Matt Hagan in the final round. Hagan went 4.068 to defeat Del Worsham, who went 4.081.

Hagan won the season finale at Pomona after defeating John Force in the final round. He’s looking for two wins in a row.
