Shawn Langdon was affected by the loss of the Al-Anabi Racing sponsorship this off-season. Yet, he was the No. 1 qualifier going into eliminations.
Langdon defeated Spencer Massey in the second semifinal at the Circle K Winternationals at Auto Club Raceway at Pomona in Pomona, California. He went 3.762 to Massey’s 3.778 to advance to the final round.
The Knuckle Sandwich driver will have lane choice in the final round. He’ll face Antron Brown in the final round.
Brown went 3.790 on a hole shot to take out Larry Dixon. The Bob Vandergriff Racing driver, who is back in a full-time ride since leaving Al-Anabi Racing in 2010, went 3.774.
According to Drag Race Central, Dixon held a 17-7 advantage over Brown in prior events. During the semi-final race, Brown had the advantage off of the starting line.
He was able to hold on for the hole shot win. Brown won by 0.0048 seconds, or approx. 2 feet.
Drag Race Central said that Massey had a 16-4 record against Langdon in prior events. Langdon, though, had the starting line advantage and continue to hold the lead throughout the rest of the race.
He won by 0.0476 seconds, or approx. 23 feet. Langdon, with the win, will have lane choice over Brown.
