For the second straight year, Jason Line has won the Circle K Winternationals from Auto Club Raceway in Pomona, California. Last year, he defeated V. Gaines in the final round, but this time around, it was a different opponent.
Line defeated Drew Skillman, who was making his Pro Stock debut. He would tell Gary Gerould after his final round run that he just wanted to qualify for eliminations, and the rest was icing on the cake.
Line went 6.545 to Skillman’s 6.56, and picked up his fourth Winternationals wally. It is also his 36th career win in Pro Stock.
“It’s three months late and wrong red car, but it is what it is,” Line said. “The Summit Camaro is in the winners circle. I’m so excited, and it’s tough to make these win lights come on. Our guys worked so hard.”
It was the second straight final round at Pomona for Line. However, he lost to Erica Enders-Stevens in the finale to clinch the Pro Stock Championship for Enders-Stevens.
Line was the No. 2 qualifier, while Skillman was the fourth qualifier. Line is the points leader in Pro Stock after this race with Skillman second.
