The Philadelphia Eagles are expected to sign free agent corner back Byron Maxwell. The deal is expected to become official this Tuesday.

It is reportedly a five-year, deal worth around $54 million. It also reportedly includes $25 million in guaranteed money.

It depends on how the Eagles word his contract on which way the $25 million goes. It could either be fully guaranteed, or money guaranteed at the time that he signs his contract, which is a signing bonus.

This is the second straight year that the Seattle Seahawks have lost a member of their secondary to free agency. Last year, it was Brandon Browner, who won the Super Bowl against his former team last month.

It will also be interesting to see how he’ll do without Richard Sherman, Kam Chancellor, and Earl Thomas. He’ll replace Cary Williams, who was released by the team last week.

Also, there may be a red flag with Maxwell, as his former Seahawks defensive coordinator Dan Quinn, who is now the Atlanta Falcons head coach, didn’t make a push for him.

This will go a big way in the Eagles upgrading their secondary. He’s 6-1, and would get targeted the most when teams were reluctant to go towards Sherman.

In 13 games last season, he had 39 tackles, two interceptions, a fumble recovery, 12 pass deflections last season. He has been with the Seahawks for the past few years, including winning the Super Bowl in 2013.
