Bob Vandergriff Racing driver Larry Dixon was involved in a scary accident this afternoon at the Amalie Oil NHRA Gatornationals. We’ve reached out to Dixon and he hasn’t responded at the moment.

What we do know at this time is that his car broke into two around the eight mile mark. After breaking in two, his Top Fuel dragster went airborne, before handing hard and hitting the wall.

His car was able to stop before the shutdown area. Once we have more information, we’ll pass that along.

He was alert and talking to medical personnel. He’s expected to go to a local hospital if there’s any serious injuries.

This is not the first time that he’s been involved in a scary accident. This is a part of the job that these drivers know that can happen.
