Rafael dos Anjos has defeated Anthony Pettis for the UFC Lightweight Championship. The Brazilian MMA fighter picked up his first belt in his career, and the 11th from his country to hold this belt.
With the win, dos Anjos improved to 24-7 in his career. Pettis dropped to 18-3 in his career.
This is his 12th decision victory in his career. Plus, it is the second belt to change hands tonight, as Joanna Jedrzjczyk also won the UFC Strawweight belt.
dos Anjos has also won four fights in a low. He hasn’t lost a bout since Khabib Nurmagomedov on April 19th, 2014 from UFC on FOX in Orlando, Florida.
Pettis as he was coming out for the fifth and final round admitted that he can’t see out of his right eye. Yet, he kept on fighting.
Going into the fifth round, dos Anjos landed 127 power shots.
Pettis was no match for dos Anjos. The Brazlian had nine take downs of an attempted 10.
