Wildcats defeat Bearcats; goes to 36-0 on the season

The No. 1 seeded Kentucky Wildcats defeated the No. 8 seeded Cincinnati Bearcats in the third round of the Midwest Region. The Wildcats won 64-51 over the Bearcats at the KFC Yum! Center in Louisville, Kentucky.

The Wildcats have advanced to the Sweet 16 with the win. Plus, this team made history as they become the first 36-0 team in NCAA history.

Kentucky has advanced to the Sweet 16 for the second straight season.

“I always like it when my team shoots 37, 36, 35 percent and wins in double digits,” Kentucky coach John Calipari said. “It shows them they don’t have to make shots to win. You can miss them all. No, you can’t miss them all. You can miss most of them, and you can still win games if you defend, you rebound and you play that way, make your free throws, and they did.”

The Wildcats have won their sixth straight game by double-digits.

The loss ended the Bearcats’ season. They concluded their season with a 23-11 record.

Aaron Harrison led the Wildcats with 13 points. He also had two rebounds and one steal.

Harrison was one of two Kentucky players, who scored in double digits. Trey Lyles added 11 points.

The Wildcats had 18 bench points. Tyler Ulis led the bench with nine points.

Troy Caupain led the Bearcats with 13 points. He also had four rebounds, four assists, and one steal.

Caupain and Shaq Thomas were the only two Cincinnati players, who were in double figures. Thomas had 10 points.

Cincinnati had 15 bench points. Coreontae DeBerry led the bench with seven points.
