Rick Barnes has found a new job. After a day of negotiations, he’s officially been hired as the Tennessee Volunteers men’s basketball head coach.

Barnes comes to the Volunteers for the Texas Longhorns, where he spent the past 17-years. Longhorns Athletic Director Steve Patterson forced Barnes out after he refused to fire key assistant coaches.

Now, with Barnes taking this job, those assistant coaches, who would have been fired at Texas, will join him at Tennessee. It is not know how long he’ll be Tennessee at this time.

The Tennessee job was not open very long, as it was open for less than a week. Donnie Tyndell, who was the former head coach, was fired with cause last Friday.

He was left go after the Volunteers Athletic Department determined that Tyndell would be hit with fractions from his time at the Southern Miss Eagles, where he coaches before taking the Volunteers job.
