Kansas City Chiefs running back Jamaal Charles has released a statement after he was lost for the season yesterday. The following statement was made on his Facebook page.
“Big thanks to everyone that has called, text, messaged & wished me well,” he wrote on his social media page. “Means the world to me & best believe this is just a minor set back.”
Charles torn his ACL in his right knee on a play, where he was not contacted by a Chicago Bears defender. He is lost for the season.
The team brought in free agent back Pierre Thomas, but there is no signing imminent. It is not clear if Thomas would be the starter if he does sign with the Chiefs.
At the moment, the team is going with second-year back Charcandrick West. He was on the team’s practice squad last year and had seven carries for 31 yards.
