Paramus Catholic leads IMG Academy on ESPN2

It’s not often that high school teams travel out of state for contests, especially in football. It’s usually the top-notch high school programs that can do that, while the regular high school programs don’t ever get that luxury because they do not have enough money to travel across the country or to another state.

After all, it would be too much money.

That’s currently the case as Paramus Catholic High School traveled to No. 7 IMG Academy in Florida.

Sometimes, the team has to fundraise to help make this happen. Other times, the school has the money to afford it themselves, or the home out-of-state helps with funding.

The former tennis academy has only been a football school for three years. However, at halftime, the North Jersey team leads on ESPN2.

Following an interception, Paramus scored on a 21-yard rushing touchdown for the early lead. They currently lead 13-7.

Kevin Wright‘s IMG Academy team is 6-0 so far this season. They’re coming off wins against two New Jersey schools in Bergen Catholic High School Crusaders and St. Joseph Regional High School Green Knights.

They played the Bergen Catholic game at Bergen Catholic High School on September 19 when they won 59-47. The following week, the Ascenders won 24-12 over St. Joseph Regional on October 2nd.

Paramus Catholic came into this game with a 3-3 record and won the past two games over Don Bosco Prep Ironmen and Friendship Collegiate Academy Knights at Anacostia High School in Washington, D.C.
