The Montreal Canadiens are just one game away from being a perfect 10-0 on the young season. If they reach that mark, they will become the third team to accomplish that feat.

Only the 1993-94 Toronto Maple Leafs and the 2006-07 Buffalo Sabres hold the NHL-record.

This evening, the Canadiens defeated the Maple Leafs, 5-3.

Montreal scored one goal in the first period, then added four in the second. They were shutout in the third.

They also became the first team in NHL history, according to the Elias Sports Bureau to begin the season with nine straight regular season wins. They broke the record that they shared with the 1975-76 Sabres team.
