Soccer star Wayne Rooney slaps King Barrett on RAW

Soccer star Wayne Rooney and wrestler King Barrett had been having a beef on Twitter for nine months. It came to a head earlier today in the United Kingdom.

Rooney slapped Barrett on Monday Night RAW, which is expected to air beginning at 8 pm this evening.

This is not the first time that wrestlers and athletes have come into play at events. You see it all the time at their big pay-per-views.

“King” called out Rooney on Twitter for a diving call. The two were discussing something before the slap too place.

It’s hard to tell if this was part of their storyline or real. With WWE‘s staged storylines and considerably fake wrestling, one has to believe it was staged.

Rooney, who was at the Monday Night RAW taping with his former Manchester United teammates Ryan Giggs and Darren Fletcher, had his six-year-old son Kai at the wrestling match at Manchester Arena.

When Barrett was in the ring, he took the microphone and called out Rooney. He said the following:

“In this ring are two men who can be easily be described as championship material,” he said. “Which is, of course, is more than be said of Wayne Rooney and Manchester United.

Barrett also made it personal when he made an insult directed at Kai. After he said that, he went down to confront Rooney ring-side.

“I’d hate for your little boy to sit there and watch his own father fail,” Barrett added. “Because let’s face it, he gets to experience that every single time you step on a football pitch.”

The two have been beefing on Twitter since this past February when Barrett claimed Rooney was diving during an FA Cup match against Barrett’s favorite team, Preston North End.

After the show, Barrett tweeted the following message: ‘I’m heading to Old Trafford early tomorrow morning. I hope @WayneRooney has the guts to meet me there.’ He then added: ‘Does anyone have Phil Bardsley‘s phone number?’
