There’s reportedly been an explosion in a bar bear the Stade de France Stadium. According to police officials, there was a shootout in a Paris, France restaurant around the time of the explosion.
France Television, BFM, is reporting that there were an unofficial count of 18 dead in the restaurant shooting at the 10th arrondissement of the capital. The restaurant is reportedly within walking distance of the stadium.
It’s not clear if it is terrorist-linked just yet. But one has to believe it may be linked to a terror group later.
There’s also reportedly a hostage standoff besides the shooting and the explosion at a concert hall.
These took place before a friendly soccer match ended on the pitch at the stadium between France and Germany. According to an Associated Press reporter on the scene, the two explosions penetrated the cheering fans.
Sirens were very loud, according to reports. A helicopter was also reportedly circling overhead.
State de France has been a national stadium of France, and is reportedly the fifth-largest stadium in Europe, holding 81,338 people.
The stadium was built for the 1998 FIFA World Cup. France defeated Brazil, 3-0, on July 12th, 1998 in the final game of the World Cup on the pitch there.
