Free agent running back Christine Michael has cleared waivers. Unfortunately for him, the back was unclaimed by any teams.
Michael will become a free agent and can sign immediately with any team. However, his changes of making it in the NFL are going to be extremely limited.
He’s flamed out with the Dallas Cowboys and the Seattle Seahawks. The Seahawks appeared to have gotten the better of the trade that sent Michael to Dallas.
He’ll probably be on the short list of emergency running backs down the stretch. But that list will include other veteran backs, including Pierre Thomas, who had a cup of coffee with the San Francisco 49ers.
Michael has a natural running ability, yet he’s never improved. The 25-year-old had just 15 carries for 51 yards in five games and a reception for two-yards.
He was the Seahawks 2013 second-round pick and is the second team in three months to give up on him. Besides his lack of production on the field, he’s also been a headache in the locker room.
In his first two seasons with the Seahawks, he played in 13 games. In those contests, he had 52 carries for 254 yards.
Last year, he also had a reception for 12-yards.
He’s never scored a touchdown since entering into the league.
After releasing Michael, the Cowboys signed Robert Turbin to take his spot.
