The Illinois Fighting Illini has lost fifth-year center Mike Thorne Jr. for a period of time. He’s out indefinitely as he heals from surgery.
Thorne Jr. undergone surgery today to remove a torn meniscus in his left knee. At this time, there’s no timetable on when he’ll be able to return to the court.
He was injury on Saturday when the Fighting Illini was taking on No. 4 Iowa State Cyclones. His injury happened in the first half of the game.
Through the team’s first seven games, he was averaging -3.4 points and 8.4 rebounds.
He came to Champaign, Illinois after being a transfer from UNC Charlotte. Charlotte, North Carolina is close to where he attend high school at Trinity Christian High School on Fayetteville, North Carolina.
