Ronda Rousey will not return to a UFC octagon until at least July 9th. UFC president Dana White has told the Los Angeles Times that Holly Holm’s first defense of her UFC Bantamweight Championship will be against Rousey.

The two are tentatively scheduled to fight at UFC 200 at the new Las Vegas Arena in July.

Holm shocked the world when she upset then-undefeated Rousey with a second-round knockout at UFC 193 in Etihad Stadium in Melbourne, Australia. The first Rousey-Holm fight set a UFC attendance record with 56,214 fans in attendance.

Rousey is currently serving a six-month medical suspension for the injuries that Holm gave to her a month ago. Rousey is booked to film two films in early 2016, so we’re not sure how this news will affect them.

She’ll have to do a full training camp, while also shooting the films.

“I’m not sure Ronda will be ready for a July fight,” Rousey’s manager Lenny Fresquez told the Times. “She took a severe beating and I don’t think it’s in her best interest to take the next fight so fast. They told me she’s been ready and cleared, but …”

Rousey, who is 12-1 in her career, recently opened up to Ramona Shelburne for an ESPN The Magazine/ESPNW story.

The headline is entitled, “Exclusive: Rousey says she’s down but not out.” Right after the headline, it says, “In the days after her stunning defeat, Ronda Rousey says that she’s ready to fight again.”

“I need to come back,” Rousey said. “I need to beat this chick. Who knows if I’m going to pop my teeth out or break my jaw or rip my lip open. I have to f—ing do it.”

After the fight, she disconnected from the world and went to Texas.

“It might be three to six months before I can eat an apple,” Rousey said. “Let alone take an impact.”
