Current Fox Sports UFC analyst Kenny Florian has gotten in trouble for plagiarism. Unlike others — who have done the same — he’s expected to keep his job.

Florian wrote a piece for FoxSports.com, where he was previewing the T.J. Dillashaw and the Dominick Cruz on Friday night. The fight is Sunday evening in Boston on Fox Sports 1.

While previewing the main event fight, he used someone else’s work. Now, his story has “Language in this breakdown borrows written material in a video of an in-depth look at the defensive boxing prowess of Willie Pep by TheFightCity.com boxing analyst Lee Wylie.”

Florian will not be a part of Fox Sports 1’s coverage of the fight, as he’s been suspended. How long is his suspension? We do not know yet.

“It is vitally important that Fox Sports and FoxSports.com maintain credibility and trust with their readers, viewers, and fans,” the Fox Sports statement read. “Fox UFC on-air personality Kenny Florian is being suspended beginning immediately for a critical oversight in a story posted earlier this week on FoxSports.com. Florian has admitted and regrets his mistake and apologized for the error.”

The former UFC fighter made an apology via Twitter to Wylie. He also said he would go in-depth about his error on Tuesday’s Podcast.

“The only person who should be upset & rightfully so is @LeeWylie1 who I’ve explained the situation to. Will explain on @AnikFlorianPod Tues.,” he wrote on Twitter.

Wylie appears to have accepted Florian’s Twitter apology. He wrote on Twitter, ‘Show me someone who hasn’t made a mistake and I’ll show you a liar. It’s not the end of the world.”

Florian also had a longer statement on Twitter as well that read:

To my fans and followers, I’d like to apologize for an oversight on my part.

As a student and fan of martial arts, I have recorded observations of fighters in various combat disciplines since 1997, and at times include attributed commentary from other sources. In preparing an article on the upcoming Cruz/Dillashaw fight for FoxSports.com, I referred to my notes specifically to research comparisons of Willie Pep and Dominick Cruz. I referenced perspectives on Pep, which were originally articulated by Lee Wylie. To my regret and embarrassment, credit was not listed where I should have listed it. Upon realizing this error, I immediately contacted Lee and apologized, and corrected the associated paragraph in the article, properly attributing Lee as the source.

Your trust is paramount to my credibility and reputation, and I promise to be much more careful in the future.
