Looking back: Denver Broncos defeat the Patriots in their last playoff meeting

The last time the Denver Broncos and the New England Patriots played each other in the playoffs, it was in the AFC Conference Championship game on January 19th, 2014. This game was also played at Sports Authority Field at Mile High Stadium.

This was the Broncos third playoff win in four meetings with the Patriots. All three of the wins came in Denver, while New England’s lone win came at Gillette Stadium.

Patriots quarterback Tom Brady scored on a five-yard run to cut the lead to 26-16 with 3:07 left in the game.

Matt Prater, the Broncos kicker, made a 54-yard field goal with 7 minutes left in the game for a 26-10 lead. Brady hit Julian Edelman for a seven-yard touchdown to make it 23-10.

Prater made a 19-yard field goal to make it 23-3. Demaryius Thomas caught a three-yard touchdown reception from Peyton Manning to make it 20-3 in the third quarter.

With 25 seconds left in the first half, Prater made a 35-yard field goal for the 13-3 lead. Patriots kicker Stephen Gostkowski made a 47-yard field goal with 2:54 left before the end of the second quarter, as the score stood at 10-3.

The Broncos jumped out to a 10-0 lead to begin the game. Prater made a 27-yard field goal, and Jacob Tamme caught a 1-yard touchdown pass from Manning.
