The Philadelphia Eagles are making some key off-season moves. Six weeks after the team fired former head coach Chip Kelly, the team has released wide receiver Riley Cooper.

Cooper was considered one of the players, who were closely associated with Kelly. Kelly is now the San Francisco 49ers head coach.

The 28-year-old will mostly be remembered for what he said while attending a Kenny Chesney concert in 2013 than anything he did on the field at Lincoln Financial Field. Months after Kelly took over for Andy Reid, who was fired, near the end of training camp, the Eagles had a huge problem on their hands involving Cooper.

According to CrossingBroad.com, a video showed that Cooper made racial comments to a black security guard. The wide receiver was trying to get backstage — and because he couldn’t get backstage, he then accosted a security guard.

This news put the Eagles to the test, especially Kelly, who came to the NFL from the Oregon Ducks. Kelly and the team decided to give Cooper some time off.

Michael Vick and Jason Avant were two Eagles players, who are credited with holding the team together instead of having Cooper’s problem destroy the team. After some time away, he returned and asked for advice from his family.

Yet, there was never any counseling or sensitivity training involved. Towards the end of the same camp, he was involved in a fight with Cary Williams.

Their teammates had to separate them.

He was the Eagles’ fifth-round pick in the 2010 NFL Draft. Under Reid for his first three seasons, he had 46 receptions for 679 yards and five touchdowns.

Kelly made him a starter and had 47 receptions for 835 yards with eight scores. Cooper was credited by Kelly, as being a good blocker.

The team even signed him to a five-year $22.5 million deal after the 2013 season. He even received a $4 million signing bonus.

But these past two seasons, his numbers dropped. He had 76 receptions for 904 yards and five touchdowns.

The Eagles also went from Nick Foles and Mark Sanchez to Sam Bradford during this time.
