Dhafir Harris – who goes by the fight name of Dada 5000 – is still hospitalized following his fight eight days ago at Bellator 149. He had a health scare almost immediately after his fight with Kimbo Slice.

He fought Slice in one of the worst MMA fights in the history of the sport. Both men were exhausted after the first few minutes – yet “Big” John McCarthy let the fight continue to the third round.

In that round, Slice hit Dada 5000, before he fell backwards and landed on the mat. McCarthy gave Slice the winner via TKO punches.

The 38-year-old collapsed as he was leaving the ring, and then was rushed to a local hospital in Houston, Texas. It would be reported later that he suffered from renal failure and severe dehydration.

His family says that he’ll be in the hospital for at least another week.

“We had hoped to bring Dada’s fans and supporters news that he would be released today after completing a full week in the hospital,” the Facebook statement said. “However, his doctors have required that he stay through the weekend and into early next week for continued monitoring and observation.

“If his progress continues as it has, he should be released early next week.”

Dada 5000 and Slice had more blows in their press conferences and their talks leading up to the fight than they did in the fight. Dada 5000 lost his first career MMA fight – as he dropped to 2-1 overall.

It was also his first fight in MMA against the man Slice, who says that Dada 5000 stole his image by taking his tattoos and his long beard.

Kimbo Slice, whose real name is Kevin Ferguson, improved to 6-2 in his MMA career.

“We appreciate the outpour of support from fans all around the country wishing Dada a speedy recovery, your kind words and prayers are heard,” the statement continued. “We would also like to thank the good people at Bellator, the EMTs, doctors and nurses at the hospital, his friends, and everyone, who has worked their best for Dada to get better. Thank you.”
