Raiders sign CB Smith

The Oakland Raiders have signed free agent cornerback Sean Smith. He has received a four-year, $38 million deal.

Prior to signing with the Raiders, he spent the past three seasons with the Kansas City Chiefs. He also began his career with the Miami Dolphins.

In his career, he has appeared in a 108 games, including a 100 starts. He has 350 tackles, including 308 solo tackles, 10 interceptions and a interception returned for a touchdown.

He also has 80 passes deflected, three forced fumbles and a fumble recovery.

He appeared in three postseason games with the Chiefs. In those games, he had 14 tackles with an interception and three pass deflections.

He appeared in 13 games with the team last season. He had 45 tackles, including 40 solo tackles, two interceptions, and 12 pass deflections.

Smith also appeared in two playoff games with the team. He had 10 tackles, an interception and two pass deflections.

Smith returns to his home state, as he’s a Pasadena, Calif. native. He was a three-year starter with the Utah Utes, before becoming the 61st overall pick in the second round selection of the Dolphins in the 2009 NFL Draft.
