Free agent linebacker Karlos Dansby doesn’t have to go far with his new team. He’s staying in the State of Ohio to play football next season.
The Cincinnati Bengals have signed Dansby to a contract. Financial terms of the agreement haven’t been released.
Dansby, whose 34-years-old, was looking to sign with a contender after being released by the Cleveland Browns. Dansby is insurance for the Bengals as Vontaze Burfict is suspended for the first three games.
Once Burfict returns, he could maintain his starter position but move to possibly the middle or even as a strong side linebacker. Over his career, he’s been an excellent coverage linebacker, which will definitely help the Bengals defense.
Dansby had 109 tackles and three interceptions with the Browns in 2015 with two of the interceptions returned for touchdowns. He also forced three fumbles.
He played the past two seasons with the Browns. In 2014, his first year there, he had 93 tackles with 3.0 sacks with an interception. He also had two pass deflections.
Dans by split with the Arizona Cardinals and the Miami Dolphins from 2004 to 2013. He was with the Cardinals from 2004 through 2009, before signing with the Dolphins from 2010 to 2012.
He signed with the Cardinals again in 2013.
