John Force is the unquestioned face of the National Hot Rod Association (NHRA). On Saturday, he stepped into a world that he’s not familiar with: social media.
Force is used to driving his 10,000-horsepower Peak Funny Car on race tracks near you. Now, he’s trying to adjust like he’s a rookie.

According to John Force Racing publicist Elon Werner, it’ll be John himself tweeting out messages to his fans and the NHRA fans, as a whole.

Force’s Twitter handle is @JohnForce_FC and it began as @JohnForce8 before being switched. He’s not verified yet by Twitter, but will be once they become aware of his account.
He joins his daughters, who have been on Twitter for a while. His publicists Werner and Sarah Adams are also on Twitter — and the publicists handle the team’s social media presence most of the time on the team’s feed and via Periscope.
With his first message, here’s what he said:
“Earnhardt Jr. sorry, they refused my brain. I’m a dinosaur on Twitter, they even stole my name. 66 years old, 21 in my firesuit. I’m exhausted.”
NASCAR’s most popular driver did respond:
“Welcome to @twitter @JohnForce_FC. This place is perfect for you. #Legend,” Earnhardt wrote on his Twitter account.
Then, a short time later, following his first tweet, John took his first selfie and posted it on his handle with his daughter Courtney Force, the driver of the Traxxas Funny Car.

With the selfie, he said, “First selfie enough said.”
It’ll be interesting to see what else we get from Force as he gets used to social media.
