Josh Norman receives an offer from the Washington Redskins

The Washington Redskins are reportedly the first team to make a legit offer to free agent corner back Josh Norman. It’s not clear at this time what exactly the offer is.

Norman is a free to sign wherever he wants after the Carolina Panthers pulled his franchise tag offer last night. He’s asking for insane money for a corner back — he wants $16 million a year.

Any team that gives a corner that much money is going to be called out for it. That’s quarterback money — and it should only be given to those positions since they’re the most important on the team.

The Redskins are expected to start Chris Culliver at right corner and Bashaud Breeland at left corner. Yet, Norman is better than both of these players.

The problem is that Norman said that he was going to approach free agency carefully. He’s going to consider money, city, team-makeup, coaches, ownership.

He added that it’s about the right combo and not just the money.

Norman is visiting with the team on Friday. Daniel Snyder, the Redskins owner, has been known to overspend for big-named players to bring them to his team.

Norman, who played four seasons with the Panthers, had a 181 tackles with 37 pass deflections and four forced fumbles. He also had seven interceptions with two being returned for touchdowns.
