The Miami Dolphins struck out via free agency in adding a featured back. Now, as the NFL Draft is approaching, they’d like to secure the top back in the draft.

The team would like to move up from the 13th selection and find a trading partner within the Top 10 to ensure that they get former Ohio State Buckeyes running back Ezekiel Elliott. He’s also being linked to the Dallas Cowboys, who pick with the fourth overall selection.

If the Cowboys pass on Elliott and potentially select his teammate, defensive end Joey Bosa, then watch for the Dolphins to make a deal. Elliott said that he would be a great fit with the Cowboys — but they also need defensive end help as DeMarcus Lawrence and Randy Gregory are suspended for the first four games, while Greg Hardy was not re-signed.

They also need rushing help, as Jerry Jones refused to give DeMarco Murray a long-term deal. He was a bust in his only season with the Philadelphia Eagles, before being traded to the Tennessee Titans.

In Elliott, there’s a lot of similarities between the two. Also, the Cowboys leading rusher last year was Darren McFadden.

He had 1,089 yards and three touchdowns. The Cowboys had eight overall, as Joseph Randle had four and Robert Turbin added another.

Elliott, he’s had back-to-back 1,800-yard seasons. Should the Dolphins draft him instead, he’ll replace Lamar Miller, who decided to sign with the Houston Texans in the off-season.

Miller had 872 yards and eight touchdowns. The Dolphins had three additional rushing touchdowns.
