Philadelphia, PA — For the first time in franchise history, the Philadelphia Soul got a win over the Arizona Rattlers. The Soul defeated the Rattlers 65-58 in front of 8,505 at the Wells Fargo Center.
The Soul came into this game with an 0-6 record against the Rattlers, including losing twice in the ArenaBowl to this team. It’s also the first-time that the two teams played each other since Week 1 of the 2014 season.
This will be a huge momentum in case the two teams meet up in the ArenaBowl. They would know that they have the confidence that they beat them previously.
Rattlers wide receiver Maurice Purify led all wide receivers with four touchdowns. Nick Davilla only had six touchdowns in the game with Rod Windsor and Anthony Amos having the other two.
Soul quarterback Dan Raudabaugh had six touchdowns, including three to Darius Reynolds. Shaun Kauleinamoku had two and Ryan McDaniel had another.
Kauleinamoku also had a four-yard rushing touchdown, his first of the season. Jeramie Richardson also had a short-yardage rushing touchdown following a Rattlers kickoff return fumble.
Sean Daniels, who was just signed by the Soul on Thurs., picked up an on-side kick by the Rattlers and scored his first AFL touchdown with the team.
Tommy Frevert, the Soul kicker, made a 21-yard field goal to put the Soul up 24-14, before the halftime score was 31-21.
