Prior to the season, UCLA Bruins head coach Jim Mora Jr. is dealing with a family matter. According to the Los Angeles Times, the coach and his wife are likely going to get a divorce.
The couple, according to their story, are separating. His wife’s name is Shannon.
Mora Jr.’s agent Jimmy Sexton confirmed the news on Friday.
“After much though and careful consideration, Jim and Shannon Mora have decided to separate,” Sexton’s statement said. “This was a very difficult decision and they appreciate the respect for their family’s privacy at this time.”
The Bruins are coming off of an 8-5 record in Mora Jr.’s fourth season. They will open up the 2016 season against the Texas A&M Aggies on Sept. 3 in College Station, Texas.
According to Player Wives, the couple was married for 22-years, as their 2014 story states. They also said that the couple were together for ten years before their marriage.
Shannon worked, at the time of their story, with The Count On Me Foundation since 2005. They reported in 2014 that the couple awarded grants to 11 different charities.
“We are humbled by the tremendous support and generosity of our sponsors and friends of the Foundation, who make funding for our grant cycles possible from year-to-year,” she said.
