Jay Bruce is finally getting traded. According to media reports, he’s going to be traded to the New York Mets.
The Cincinnati Reds outfielder has been rumored to be in trade talks for quite some time. A year and a day ago, he was nearly traded to the Mets.
However, talks fell through and they then acquired Yoenis Cespedes. Once this deal goes through, the Mets will have a problem in the outfield.

They’ll have Bruce, Cespedes, Michael Conforto, and Curtis Granderson in the outfield. There are only three spots available unless one gets moved later.
Manager Terry Collins is going to have an interesting challenge ahead of him. He may move Conforto or Granderson to first base, which would free up an outfield spot.
If that happens, the team could move James Loney. Then in late August or September, general manager Sandy Alderson and Collins would have to figure things out when Lucas Duda returns from his injury.
Bruce was a right fielder during his Reds tenure. Granderson is currently listed as the Mets right fielder.
The Reds are acquiring Brandon Nimmo, a backup outfielder, and two lower-level prospects in the trade. It’s expected to be completed within the hour.
Bruce has an option for the 2017 season. Cespedes has an option in his contract to leave the team by opting out of his contract after this season.

He has a .265 batting average with 25 home runs and 80 RBIs in 97 games. He’s 0-for-8 in his last two games against the San Diego Padres.
