Matt Forte may have signed a three-year, $12 million deal with the New York Jets in the off-season. But according to NJ Advance Media, he’s splitting touches with Bilal Powell, who also re-signed with the team in the off-season.

Forte was supposed to be the clear-cut favorite to be the featured back. However, this suggests otherwise and it could have a factor when it comes to fantasy football.

Those who split carries do not get a lot of fantasy points when the season starts. Also, in the Jets backfield is Khiry Robinson, who signed with the team in the off-season from the New Orleans Saints.

Robinson is expected to get used in short-yardage situations.

Forte was hampered by injuries last season; however, when he did play, he had to split carries with rookie Jeremy Langford. The 30-year-old back had 218 carries for 898 yards and four touchdowns.

It was the first-time that he didn’t have a 1,000 yard rushing season since 2011 when he had 997 yards. With this running back by committee, it’s unlikely that’ll get another shot at the thousand yard mark.
