While the Brazilian authorities continue to investigate the claims that four United States swimmers were robbed at gunpoint on early Sunday morning, Gunnar Bentz and Jack Conger were not allowed to come home.

According to reports, they were pulled off of their flights due to the investigation.

This was confirmed by the United States Olympic Committee, who told the USA Today, who were the first to report the news. Ryan Lochte, the main individual in the case, is reportedly already home.

On Wednesday, a Brazilian judge ordered Lochte and his teammate Jimmy Feigen to stay put. Feigen reportedly is still in the country, according to the San Antonio Express-News.

As the authorities continue to look at the case, they’re finding a lack of evidence to support Lochte’s claims. He said that he and his teammates were robbed at gunpoint when they were returning to the Olympic Village.

According to reports, there’s discrepancies in the two statements. Also, there’s differences on what was allegedly stolen by the robbers.

At this time, it is not clear what the Brazilian authorities will do. With Lochte already home, it is unlikely he will be punished by the Brazilian authorities unless the Brazilian and the United States work out some kind of agreement so that he can serve the punishment in the United States.

It is not clear when Bentz and Conger will be able to return to the United States.

Normally, if you file a false police report like the authorities are investigating, this could be a very serious crime. And it could lead to punishment in jail. But since this involves two separate countries, it makes things more difficult.
