Jamyest Williams, an ESPN 300 cornerback, has announced that he’s committing to South Carolina. According to ESPN, he’s the 37th ranked prospect — and the highest to choose the Gamecocks since No. 1 ranked prospect Jadeveon Clowney in 2011.
“It was personally a hard decision to choose between (Georgia defensive coordinator) coach (Mel) Tucker and (South Carolina defensive coordinator) Travaris Robinson,” he said. “I believe in relationships and I believe I have the best relationship with T Rob.”
Williams is the fourth-best corner in the country. He joins seven other ESPN 300 commitments to choose South Carolina, who presently has the 17th-best class.
“I am most definitely going to start recruiting them,” Williams said. “I’ll just tell them it’s a great opportunity for all of us to go in and compete in the SEC.”
