After a tryout with the Philadelphia Eagles on Mon., former Philadelphia Soul defensive lineman Jake Metz has signed with the team. He was one of two players, Darius Reynolds the other, who tried out with the Eagles on Mon.
Metz was in the Arena Football League for two-years, both with the Soul. He was named the AFL’s Defensive Lineman of the Year this past season, while also being named a First-Team All-Arena player.
“I could not be happier for Jake,” Soul head coach Clint Dolezel said. “The transformation I have see from his rookie season to this year has been monumental, and clearly I am not the only one to notice this. I wish him luck and know that he will be a good addition to the Eagles defense.”
This season, he had 29.5 tackles, three pass break-ups, two forced fumbles and a quarterback hurry. He also had 8.0 sacks, which led the AFL.
He’s the second Soul player to sign with an National Football League team this off-season. Wide receiver Harvey Binford is currently on the Green Bay Packers roster. Binford also spent the past two years with the Soul.
