According to the Minnesota Vikings, starting quarterback Teddy Bridgewater is undergoing an MRI. He was taken to a local hospital in Minn. after suffering a significant injury.

Head coach Mike Zimmer says that it doesn’t look good right now. After he got hurt, the team canceled practice.

This is a huge blow if it is a torn ACL, like some media reports are saying it is. That’ll mean he’s lost for the rest of the season even before the season officially starts next week.

“My wife passed away 7 years ago and it was a tough day, but the sun still came up the next day,” Mike Zimmer said.

With Bridgewater likely out, his back-up Shaun Hill will likely be named the starter. They’ll also look to add quarterback depth, as well.

Hill, who signed with the Vikings in March 2015, hasn’t started more than 10 games in a season. In addition, as a starter, he’s never made it to the postseason.

His best record was 5-3 with the San Francisco 49ers in 2008.

Last season, Bridgewater started all 17 games for the Vikings, including their playoff loss to the Seattle Seahawks. He went 292-of-447 for 3,231 yards with 14 touchdowns. He also had nine interceptions and a 88.7 quarterback rating.

Hill has 16 wins and 18 losses as an NFL starter. He has thrown for 8,053 yards with 49 touchdowns and 30 interceptions.

He last started an NFL game was in 2014 with the St. Louis Rams. He went 3-and-5 and went 145-of-229 for 1,657 yards with eight touchdowns and seven interceptions.

Prior to that, he didn’t start an NFL game since 2010 with the Detroit Lions.
