Toronto Blue Jays pitcher Francisco Liriano has been taken to an area Texas hospital after being hit in the head. Liriano walked off the field after getting hit.
Carlos Gomez, his former Minnesota Twins teammate and now Texas Rangers outfielder, hit the pitch a 102 mph when he hit Liriano in the 8th inning. After hitting the pitcher, the ball then went into center field as Gomez went to first base.

While the Blue Jays won the game 5-3 to take a 2-0 Series lead against the Rangers, their concern was with Liriano. He’s going to undergo tests and may have suffered a concussion on the play.
Even though he was conscious, Liriano was put on a stretcher and had his neck mobilized, according to Sportsnet.ca‘s Shi Davidi. It’s always scary when pitchers are hit by line-drives.
In Sept., a 105 mph pitch was hit off of Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim‘s pitcher Matt Shoemaker‘s head. It caused a small skull fracture and he’s considering wearing protection moving forward.
