Looking Back: 2009 Smackdown Taping in Trenton

On Halloween, it’ll be the first time in over seven-years that a Smackdown-branded event took place at the Sun National Bank Center in Trenton, NJ. They had a Smackdown! taping that took place on Tuesday, October 6th, 2009.

It’ll also be the fifth Smackdown branded event that took place in Trenton. The first took place on Tuesday, May 3rd, 2005.

This 2009 show began with Rey Mysterio defeating Chris Jericho. Michelle McCool then defeated Eve Torres.

John Morrison retained his WWE Intercontinental Championship over Dolph Ziggler. Drew McIntyre and Kane then defeated Matt Hardy and R-Truth.

C.M. Punk defeated Batista via a count out in the final match.

Ziggler and Kane are the only wrestlers presently on the Smackdown Live roster today that appeared on this card. Ziggler also defeated The Miz to win the WWE Intercontinental Championship for the fifth-time at the Golden 1 Center in Sacramento, Ca. on Sunday night at the No Mercy pay-per-view.

Presently, there’s only two cards being advertised in the video below for the Smackdown Live event. Dean Ambrose will face A.J. Styles for the WWE Smackdown Live World Championship. Styles retained the belt over Ambrose and John Cena in the main event match that began the pay-per-view.

Bray Wyatt is expected to face Randy Orton. Wyatt defeated Orton with the help of Luke Harper, who returned to help Wyatt, the Wyatt Family leader.
