The Philadelphia Eagles have discussed a traded with the San Francisco 49ers. Torrey Smith would go to the Birds.
It’s unclear what the compensation would be going back to the 49ers, besides that it’ll be a draft pick. The Eagles traded a draft pick to the Tennessee Titans in the summer for wide receiver Dorial Green-Beckham.
Howie Roseman, the Eagles general manager, has been known to make a deal when he has to. He’s not content with his current group of wide outs.
Since signing a five-year, &48 deal with the 49ers, Smith’s play has declined. Dating back to his days with the Ravens, he’s been a deep threat. However, he’s been playing with Blaine Gabbert and Colin Kaepernick — who can’t throw him the deep ball.
Smith is 27-years-old and could force the Eagles to make a decision on Nelson Agholor. He has struggled, even as the starter along side Jordan Matthews.
Agholor could possibly even made available in the trade. It’s clear that Agholor was a Chip Kelly pick, and he’s the 49ers head coach.
This season, Smith has 13 receptions for a 199 yards and two touchdowns in seven games.
