Malik Turner, the Illinois Fighting Illini wide receiver, left Saturday’s game against the Minnesota Golden Gophers. Turner was carted off in the second quarter.

He took a big hit after catching a pass, as he was going across the middle. Gophers safety Duke McGhee was ejected on the play when the officials said he targeted Turner.

This season, Turner has 513 receiving yards. That’s 43% of the team’s passing offense, according to rotoworld.com.

Without Turner for the rest of the game, third-string quarterback Jeff George Jr. will have to count on the other receivers.

Turner had two receptions for 10 yards so far.
