So much was made about Kevin Durant facing his former team on Thursday night. Durant decided to sign with the Golden State Warriors when he was a free agent this summer.

He showed the Oklahoma City Thunder why he was so good for them. Durant had 39 points in the Warriors 122-96 win over the Thunder at Oracle Arena in Oakland, California.

He took a “LeBron” deal with the Warriors on July 7th. He made his intentions known on July 4th.

The one-year deal with a one-year option puts pressure on the Warriors to win championships now.

By Durant leaving, Russell Westbrook became the focal point of the Thunder’s offense. He re-signed with the Thunder – after Durant and Dion Waiters left to free up the money to get Westbrook’s deal done.

“I didn’t talk to anyone on the court unless it was my teammates,” Westbrook said. “It’s one game, but we’re OK. It’s the Warriors.”

Westbrook had 20 points. He also had six rebounds and 10 assists.

Westbrook and Durant avoided each other before and after the game. Even after Durant left, Westbrook tried to avoid all answers about his former teammate.
