Preview: 2016 TCNJ @ Southern Virginia

The College of New Jersey’s football team will look to continue its win streak against Southern Virginia University. They picked up their first win last week during Homecoming against the William Paterson Pioneers.

The Lions (1-7) are looking to continue its dominance over the Knights. TCNJ is 3-1 against SVU — and the only loss came in 2014.

The Knights won 28-21 in Buena Vista, Virginia that year.

SVU is 2-6, but they’re 1-6 within the New Jersey Athletic Conference. They also defeated the Pioneers during their Homecoming Day game on Oct. 22.

The Knights are averaging 228.3 total yards per game. They’re averaging 10 points per game.

They have been shutout twice this season. They lost 35-0 to Salisbury University on Sept. 24.

Then, two weeks later, they lost 17-0 to Montclair State.

SVU is giving up 27.9 points per game. They’re also allowing 304.3 yards per game.

The Lions are averaging nine points per game. They’re also averaging a 193 total yards per contest.

Like the Knights, the Lions have been shutout twice this season. They were defeated 17-0 to Christopher Newport on Sept. 24.

On Oct. 8, they lost 41-0 to the Wesley Wolverines.

TCNJ is giving up 31.3 points per game. They’re also giving up 409.3 yards per contest.

Trevor Osler leads the Lions attack with 679 passing yards. He has thrown two touchdowns and seven interceptions.

Chad Scott had 489 yards and four touchdowns. He tied a school record against the Pioneers when he had four touchdowns last week in the 42-28 win.

Jeff Mattonelli has 270 receiving yards and two touchdowns.

Ty Jones leads the Knights with a 135 passing yards. He also had a touchdown pass and four interceptions.

Michael Frye has 312 rushing yards and a touchdown. Malakai Solovi leads the receivers with 55 yards.
