On Friday night, Lafayette Leopards faces the Villanova Wildcats. Both teams come into this game with a 0-0 mark.
Villanova is 12-3 in their past 15 games. They’re also 7-2 in their last nine games. These two teams will play at 6:30 pm EST.
This is the Wildcats first game since winning the National Championship over the North Carolina Tar Heels. The Wildcats won on a last-second shot as time expired for a 77-74 win.
Villanova has won all four games in this series. The past three games have been blowouts except for the first meeting on Nov. 23, 1999. In that game, the Wildcats won 74-70.
The Leopards lost their last game of last season. In their past 10 games to end the season, they only had one win, which came against Colgate Raiders, 79-77.
The Wildcats ended the season on a six-game win streak. All of these wins came during the NCAA March Madness Tournament. Only two of these games were close — besides the North Carolina game, they had a 64-59 win over the Kansas Jayhawks on March 26.
The Leopards are led by seniors Nick Linder and Monty Boykins.
Kris Jenkins — returns following his game-winning basket over North Carolina in one of the most historic shots of all-time — is a senior for the Wildcats. Josh Hart, Denny Grace and Darryl Reynolds are also seniors.
