Austin Cindric has joined Brad Keselowski Racing for the 2017 season. He will be a full-time driver in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series.
He will be piloting one of the team’s Ford F-150, according to the press release. Cindric is 18-years-old and has made five starts since Oct. 2015.
“One of the things we wanted to do at BKR is give talented young drivers an opportunity to take the next step in their career,” Keselowski, team owner, said. “Austin Cindric has already had success in various forms of racing and he has shown a lot of potential in our truck. We’re happy to give him an opportunity to compete full-time at a high level in NASCAR next season.”
He made his Camping World Truck Series debut at Martinsville (Va.) Speedway in Oct. 2015. All of his five races have come with BKR.
This season, he made three starts and had qualified second — his career-best — at the Canadian Tire Motorsport Park in Bowmanville, Ontario, Canada. He also competed in the Lucas Oil 150 Friday night at Phoenix International Raceway.
He raced in ARCA Racing Series events at Kentucky Speedway on Sept. 23. He raced in the NASCAR K&N Pro Series East events at Watkins Glen (New York) International and Virginia International Raceway.
“This is a massive opportunity from Brad and everyone at BKR who trust me and believe in my abilities as a driver to move on to the next level for a full season,” Cindric said. “The number one thing is you’ve got to get results on the race track, and that’s something that BKR has done consistently year after year. One of the things I’ve learned in my short career is that it’s all about people. You must have good equipment, but you can’t have success without good people, and they definitely have that.”
No sponsors have been announced for his truck yet.
