Bears add Staten, release Bausby

The Chicago Bears have signed defensive lineman Jimmy Staten to the active roster. The team has also waived defensive back De’Vante Bausby.

Staten is looking to appear in his first National Football League game. This is his third pro season with an appearance.

He has with the Kansas City Chiefs (2015-16), New England Patriots (2015), New York Giants (2015) and Seattle Seahawks (2014-15). He has also spent time on the Seahawks (2014), Patriots (2015) and Chicago Bears (2016) practice squads.

He was selected in the fifth-round of the 2014 NFL Draft by the Seahawks with the 172nd overall pick.

Bausby was in his second NFL season. He began his career with the Chiefs, before signing with the Bears. He has 12 tackles in four games.

He spent last season on the Bears practice squad.

He signed with the Chiefs as an undrafted free agent in 2015.
