On Sunday afternoon, the New England Patriots face the San Francisco 49ers. The Patriots are 7-2, while the 49ers are 1-8.

The Patriots are 4-0 on the season. The 49ers are 1-4 at Levi’s Stadium.

This is the return to the Bay Arena for Patriots quarterback Tom Brady. He grew up a San Francisco fan when he was younger — and even attended their games as a kid.

He’s going to be without his main target as Rob Gronkowski suffered a punctured lung on a hit by Seahawks safety Earl Thomas. He went on to finish the game, before news came out earlier this week that he got hurt.

The 49ers best the Patriots in their last game in this series. On Dec. 16, 2012, San Francisco won 41-34.

New England hasn’t beat the 49ers since Matt Cassel led the team to a 30-21 win on Oct. 5, 2008. Brady suffered a torn ACL earlier that season in the first game following a hit by Bernard Pollard.

The Patriots lost last week on Sunday Night Football when they lost 31-24. One has to go back to Oct. 30 to find their last win, which was a 41-25 beating of the Buffalo Bills.

The 49ers have lost eight straight games following their opening week win over the Los Angeles Rams, 28-0, on Sept. 12.

New England is averaging 26.8 points per game. San Francisco is scoring 20.8.

The Patriots are averaging 393.7 yards per contest. They’re giving up 373.2 yards.

The 49ers are averaging 322.7 yards per game. They’re giving up 436.8 yards.

Brady leads New England with 1,635 yards after missing the first four games of the season. He also has 12 touchdowns and an interception.

LeGarrette Blount has 678 rushing yards and -2 touchdowns. Gronkowski has 540 receiving yards and three touchdowns.

Colin Kaepernick has 938 yards after starting the past few games. Blaine Gabbert was the team’s starter to begin the season. Kaepernick has five touchdowns and two interceptions.

Carlos Hyde has 443 yards and six touchdowns. Jeremy Kerley has 424 receiving yards and three touchdowns.
