Bears beat Spartans in the Bahamas; advance to Battle 4 Atlantis Championship game

The No. 20 Baylor Bears defeated the No. 24 Michigan State Spartans on Thanksgiving Day. The Bears won 73-58 over the Spartans at Imperial Arena at the Battle 4 Atlantis regular-season tournament at Atlantis, Paradise Island, Bahamas.

With the win, the Bears advanced to the Battle 4 Atlantis Championship game. Baylor advanced to their third regular-season tournament championship game in the last four years.

This included the 2013 Maui Invitational and the 2014 Las Vegas Invitational. The current 2016 Battle 4 Atlantis was the third tournament in which they advanced to the championship game.

Baylor also improved to 5-0 on the young season. The Spartans dropped their third game, as they fell to 3-3.

The Bears trailed 28-18 at 7:14 in the first half. This was their largest deficit on the season thus far.

The Spartans led 33-30 at halftime. However, their offensive output dropped off in the second half.

The Bears outscored the Spartans 43-25 in the second half. This helped Baylor to overcome their deficit to get the win.

Johnathan Motley led the Bears with 26 points. He also had six rebounds and three assists.

Motley was one of two Bears players in double figures. Jo Lual-Acuil Jr. also had 14 points.

Baylor had just nine bench points. Seven of their bench points came from Terry Maston.

Miles Bridges led the Spartans with 15 points. He also had five rebounds, one assist, and three blocks.

He was the only Michigan State player, who scored more than 10 points. After Bridges, Matt McQuaid was second in scoring with eight points.

Michigan State had 25 bench points. McQuaid led the bench with his aforementioned eight points.
