According to Fox Sports’ Bruce Feldman, the Houston Cougars have named defensive coordinator Todd Orlando as their interim head coach. Orlando will coach the team in their upcoming bowl game.

He replaces Tom Herman, who left to become the Texas Longhorns head coach. Less than an hour after Charlie Strong was fired, Herman was hired as his successor.

This will be the first time that Orlando served as a head coach or interim head coach in his career. He’s making more than $1 million per season and is in the final year of his two-year contract.
