Bearcats escape No. 19 Cyclones in overtime 55-54

The Cincinnati Bearcats have upset the No. 19 Iowa State Cyclones in overtime. The Bearcats won 55-54 at the James H. Hilton Coliseum in Ames, Iowa.

With the win, the Bearcats improved to 6-1 on the season. This was their first road win of the season.

The loss dropped the Cyclones to 5-2. They suffered their first loss at home, as they are now 3-1 in Ames, Iowa.

In overtime, the Bearcats scored five points. The Cyclones scored just four points.

Cincinnati player Jacob Evans scored the game-winning basket with 20 seconds left. He first tied the game at 54 with a free throw. Then, he made his second free throw to go up one.

Cyclones’ Nazareth Mitrou-Long missed a three-point jumper with five seconds left. Monte Morris received the offensive basket but he was not able to get off a shot.

The game was tied at 50 all at halftime. The Bearcats scored 25 points in each half. The Cyclones scored 24 points in the first half then added 26 points in the second half.

Kyle Washington led the Bearcats with 13 points. He also had 10 rebounds, one assist, and one block.

Washington was one of four starters, who scored in double digits. Gary Clark, Evans, and Kevin Johnson also contributed 11 points.

Cincinnati had just two bench points. The two points came from Nosier Brooks, who had the two points in eight minutes.

Morris led the Cyclones with 15 points. He also had two rebounds, two assists, and one block.

He was one of two starting Cyclones players, who scored in double figures. Matt Thomas also had 13 points. Darrell Bowie also had 11 points off the bench.

Iowa State had 17 bench points. Bowie had the aforementioned 11 points.
