The New York Jets will not be coached by Todd Bowles on Saturday. He was admitted to the hospital and won’t travel with the team.

His condition is stable. The Jets face the New England Patriots at Gillette Stadium on Christmas Eve.

The Jets are 4-10 this season. They play the Patriots at 1 pm on Saturday.

With Bowles not available, the team may make Chan Gailey the interim head coach. He hasn’t coached an NFL game as a head coach since being fired by the Buffalo Bills in 2012.

As an NFL head coach, Gailey is 34-46. In his final season with the Bills, he guided the team to a 6-10 record.

Mike Caldwell has been the assistant head coach and inside linebackers coach. However, he never served as a head coach, so that’s why Gailey would likely be the first choice.
