By Anthony Caruso III | Publisher Arkansas Razorbacks senior tight end Jeremy Sprinkle has been suspended from the Belk Bowl for an alleged shoplifting incident that happened on Tuesday. He’s accused of shop lifting items from the SouthPark Mall’s Belk store in Charlotte, N.C. The team was there to take part in a bowl function. Each player was given a $450 gift card to spend over 90 minutes in the store. They could purchase anything with the money and they also received a Fossil watch. However, Sprinkle attempted to purchase items worth more than $450. The school announced the suspension two hours before the game. “Jeremy’s suspension has been known by our staff and players for several days, so we’ve had a chance to prepare our game plan accordingly,” Razorbacks head coach Bret Bielema said. “Throughout his career and this season as a graduate student-athlete, Jeremy had displayed numerous times the qualities we want to represent our program. “We have standards within our family that must be upheld on a daily basis and unfortunately he failed to do that in the last week. Jeremy’s suspension isn’t drug, alcohol or violence related, but one what will cause him to miss his final game as a Razorback.” According to Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department public information officer Jessica Wallin, no police were dispatched to the scene. Also, Belk, nor the SouthPark Mall did not comment. Sprinkle had 33 receptions and four touchdowns this season.
