“I remember a lot of trips up here that didn’t go well. This is a tough place to play,” said Drew, who is 3-11 at Norman. “I know they weren’t at full strength, that’s first and foremost. Second of all, I thought we were sharp after the break. You’ve got to credit our upperclassmen for making sure they were ready to go.”

Johnathan Motley led the Bears with 19 points in the game. He also had 13 rebounds, one assist, and three blocks.

“Everybody was just playing with a lot of energy, flying around, making them do the things they don’t want to do,” Motley, who posted his fourth double-double of the season, said. “They like to shoot a lot of 3’s, and we were just trying to make them put it on the floor and them finish over our bigs.”

Motley was part of the Baylor attack that scored 36 points in the first half. They scored 40 points in the second half.

The Bears’ defense held the Sooners to 17 points in the first half. They then doubled their effort in the second half with 33 points.

Manu Lecomte and Jo Lual-Acuil Jr. also scored double figures. Lecomte had 14 and Lual-Acuil Jr. scored 12 points.

Baylor had 22 bench points. Terry Maston scored six points off the bench.

Christian James led the Sooners with 11 points. He also had two assists.

James was the only player in double digits.

The Sooners had 24 bench points. Kameron McGusty led the bench with nine points.

“We were a little timid early,” OU coach Lon Kruger said. “I don’t think it was an effort as much as it was deer in the headlight. I think their length and size bothered us. We had some decent looks early that didn’t go. We’ve got to compete harder to get results. To compete in this league, we’ve got to do more.”
